TAMPA, FL (March 17, 2026) — A Seffner man will spend the rest of his life in prison after a jury convicted him of attempting to kill a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy while fleeing arrest. This morning during a court hearing, 29-year-old Logan Williams received two consecutive life sentences plus 105 years in prison.
The conviction stems from a January 2025 incident where deputies responded to a home on Williams Road in Tampa after the defendant cut his 87-year-old grandmother with a knife during an argument.
When deputies arrived, Williams fled the scene in his vehicle. A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop him by deploying stop sticks and positioning a marked patrol vehicle to block the exit. Williams then intentionally rammed the vehicle, injuring the deputy and a civilian employee.
In February, a jury found Williams guilty of multiple charges including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer with a weapon, attempted second-degree murder with a weapon, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery on a person over 65, aggravated fleeing to elude, driving under the influence with property damage, and several additional offenses.
“When you target the very men and women who risk their lives to protect our community, we will pursue justice to the fullest extent of the law,” said State Attorney Suzy Lopez. “Thanks to the work of our prosecutors and law enforcement partners, this defendant will never walk the streets again.”
Assistant State Attorneys Anna Ismer and Karina Simmons successfully prosecuted this case.
