TAMPA, FL (August 1, 2025) — The Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office is proud to announce the launch of its official new website and email domain: HillsboroughSAO.gov, replacing the former Sao13th.com. This change goes into effect August 1, 2025, and reflects our agency’s ongoing commitment to enhancing public trust, digital security, and alignment with federal standards.

Moving to a .gov domain allows members of the public to verify that they are interacting with a legitimate government agency. Domains ending in .gov are strictly regulated, and available only to U.S. government organizations, offering greater cybersecurity protections.

“As prosecutors, our role in the justice system demands fairness, integrity, and accountability,” said State Attorney Suzy Lopez. “The transition to HillsboroughSAO.gov strengthens our digital security which gives the public greater confidence that that they are directly engaging with a trusted government agency. This is another meaningful step in our continued commitment to serving and protecting this community.”

Key changes going into effect August 1:

Our official website of the office will now be HillsboroughSAO.gov.
All staff email addresses will now end in @HillsboroughSAO.gov instead of @sao13th.com. The format will be the employee’s first initial, followed by their last name.
Emails sent to old addresses will automatically be forwarded to the new domain.
Our previous website will automatically be forwarded to the new .gov website for the foreseeable future to ensure a smooth transition for those we serve.

Our agency will notify law enforcement partners, victims, community organizations, and defense counsel about the change. You will also see public announcements on our social media pages as well as on our new website domain. All existing links to the previous sao13th.com website will automatically redirect to the new domain. However, we recommend that everyone utilizing our services should update their bookmarks to reflect the new Hillsborough.gov domain.
